Doral Blue Monster Course Information

Renowned throughout the golfing world, rich in history, one of the best courses through the PGA season, this week’s WGC Cadillac is hosted at the Blue Monster at Trump National Doral. The course is tougher, significantly longer, and more dramatic than ever before after renovation in 2014. The owner of the course Donald Trump acquired the services of Gil Hanse, a distinguished course architect, to meticulously re-sculpt every hole.

The 7,590 yard, 72 par course features a series of strategically placed deep bunkers, long flowing fairways, interesting undulating greens, deep Bermuda rough and a challenging assortment of water hazards – all of which combine for a course that requires both length and finesse to score well.
The famous 18th hole is traditionally ranked as one of the most difficult on the PGA Tour, littered with late round collapses and heroic shots over recent years. The tee shot has to be kept right to stay away from that dangerous water with the approach into the stunning green.

Along with the fantastic 18th hole, one of my personal favourites on the Trump owned Doral Blue Monster course is the split fairway, par 4, eleventh that has more sand in it than any other hole on the course. The massive angled bunker splits the fairway and would put fear into any golfer.

Doral has, historically, seen very close final leaderboards with one stroke and playoff wins the norm. The course has a rich history on the PGA tour with past winners including, two time champion Jack Nicklaus, three time winner Greg Norman and Tiger Woods with four wins at Doral.

With the rich history, and a course kept up to perfect condition, it is no that it has once again secured its status as the current and future home to the World Golf Championships– Cadillac Championship.
